Zipline Information & FAQ's

General Information

What is ziplining in Whistler like?

Ziplining in Whistler is a mix of adventure and breathtaking scenery. Guests soar above old-growth forest and across the Fitzsimmons Valley, with views of the surrounding Coast Mountains. Tours are led by professional guides who handle all the technical gear so you can focus on the experience.

What zipline tours can I choose in Whistler?

Whistler offers zipline adventures with Ziptrek Ecotours and Superfly Ziplines. Ziptrek features family-friendly tours like the Bear and Eagle, plus The Sasquatch®, North America’s longest zipline, along with seasonal canopy walks and winter tours. Superfly offers four side-by-side ziplines on Cougar Mountain, among the longest and highest in Canada.

What is the difference between Ziptrek and Superfly?

Ziptrek Ecotours runs through the Fitzsimmons Valley with multiple tour options, including eco-interpretive elements and a free-hanging harness that allows more movement. Superfly Ziplines is based on Cougar Mountain and features four tandem (side-by-side) lines with a seated harness for a more stable ride, focusing on speed and scenery.

How long does a Whistler zipline tour take?

Most tours run between 2 and 3 hours, including check-in, gear fitting, a safety orientation, and multiple ziplines. Duration varies slightly depending on the tour chosen and group size.

When is the best time to go ziplining in Whistler?

Zipline tours operate year-round. Summer offers warm temperatures and lush forest, while winter delivers a snowy canopy and crisp alpine air. Each season offers a unique perspective of Whistler’s natural beauty.

Safety & Requirements

Is ziplining in Whistler safe?

Yes. Tours are designed with safety as the top priority. Professional guides provide detailed briefings and manage all equipment. Operators use industry-standard gear and conduct regular inspections to ensure the highest level of safety.

Are there age, weight, or height restrictions?

Yes. Specific requirements vary by operator and tour, but most have a minimum age (often around 6–7 years), a minimum weight, and a maximum weight limit for harness safety. It’s best to confirm these details when booking.

Can children go ziplining?

Children can usually participate as long as they meet the minimum weight and age requirements. Some tours allow kids to ride tandem with a guide if they’re under a certain weight threshold.

Can I go ziplining if I’m pregnant or have a medical condition?

For safety reasons, ziplining is generally not recommended during pregnancy. Guests with certain medical conditions or recent injuries should consult their physician and review tour guidelines before booking.

Practical Information

What should I wear for ziplining?

Closed-toe shoes are required. Dress in comfortable, weather-appropriate layers—light clothing in summer, warmer layers in winter. Long hair should be tied back, and jewellery or loose items should be removed or secured.

Do zipline tours run if it rains or snows?

Yes. Tours usually operate in most weather conditions, including light rain or snow, adding a unique dimension to the experience. Only extreme weather, such as high winds or lightning, may cause cancellations.

Can I bring my phone, camera, or GoPro?

Many operators allow small cameras or GoPros if they are securely attached with a strap or mount. Hand-held devices are not recommended, as dropped items cannot be retrieved. Some tours also offer professional photo or video services. You will not be able to bring a backpack or any other baggage on tour with you. You will be wearing a full-body harness and backpacks will interfere with this harness.

Booking & Logistics

Do I need to book ziplining in advance?

Advance reservations are highly recommended, especially during weekends, holidays, and peak summer. Same-day spots may be available, but tours often sell out quickly.

What is the cancellation policy for Zipline tours?

Cancellations made within 24 hours prior to tour departure and no-shows will be charged full tour price. Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather, foreseeable hazards, insufficient bookings, or events beyond our control. In these events, full refunds will be made or alternative dates offered.

Where do Whistler zipline tours start?

Most tours check in at a central location in Whistler Village, with transportation provided to the start of the course. Exact meeting points are included in your booking confirmation.

What is included in a zipline tour?

Tours include a professional guide, all required gear (helmet, harness, safety equipment), and access to multiple ziplines. Transportation to and from the course is often included, depending on the operator.
