World Cup Downhill Racing Debuts in Whistler

The pinnacle of downhill mountain bike racing arrives in Whistler this September, as the UCI Downhill World Cup makes its highly anticipated debut at Whistler Mountain Bike Park. On September 25 – 27, the world’s fastest downhill athletes will go head-to-head on 1199, a purpose-built racetrack in the Creekside Zone designed to challenge the sport’s best. Marking a milestone for a destination considered as the spiritual home of downhill mountain biking, the event will put Whistler’s legendary terrain and mountain bike culture on the global stage. Spectators can catch the action trackside, with designated viewing areas and opportunities to see athletes and teams throughout the race weekend.

Rethinking Single-Use Coffee Cups in Whistler

What does it take to shift a resort community away from single use? Reuse Whistler is tackling one of the destination’s everyday waste streams with a community-wide reusable cup program designed to make choosing to reuse as convenient as choosing disposable. Visitors and residents can borrow a cup from participating cafés and return it at locations throughout Whistler. The initiative has already kept thousands of single-use cups out of circulation, with plans to explore Reuse at events and, longer term, expand into other areas of the visitor experience. Tourism Whistler’s Changemaker Series goes behind the scenes with Reuse Whistler’s Claire Ruddy and local pro skier and environmental advocate Mike Douglas.

Meadow Park Closed for Rejuvenation Work

Meadow Park is closed for construction from April 7 to November 2026 for the Meadow Park Rejuvenation Project. The park is being redeveloped to replace the infrastructure to better meet the needs of the many community members and visitors who use it and also to adapt to climate change. It will raise the bar on mountain food with significant investment to elevate its most popular dishes and launch Epic Ascent, an enhanced private lesson experience with concierge services, white-glove gear rental and high-touch customer support. Evolve E-Bike Share Program

To promote active transportation, an e-bike share program is available in Whistler in the spring, summer and fall. E-bike parking stations are located throughout the valley in neighbourhoods and at popular amenities and parks. Learn more at evo.ca/evolve.

New Tap-to-Pay on Whistler Transit

BC Transit is making it easier for people to ride fixed-route buses in the Whistler Transit System. As of February 24, riders now have the option to pay their fare with a tap of a debit card, credit card or mobile wallet.
