Glacier Discovery Tour Explore the Whistler Glacier on this guided interpretive tour. Take a walk on the glacier snow and ice atop Whistler Mountain and take in the natural landscape sculpted by ice and volcanoes. Outfitted with boots, crampons and an ice axe you will learn how to walk using glacier equipment, learn about the formation of the Coast Mountain’s glaciers and have a chance to play on the ice and snow. Glacier Glissading Have you experienced the thrill of sliding down a slippery slide or gliding through snow on a toboggan? Glacier Glissading not only combines both of these into one ultra-fun activity, but does so on summer snowpack! This tour includes all of the interpretive aspects of our Glacier Discovery Tour plus Glissading. You get two tours in one! Glacier Tours Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I purchase lift tickets?

For Glacier Tours, there is the option to select tours with or without PEAK 2 PEAK tickets included. For tours that do not include a PEAK 2 PEAK ticket, you will need to purchase a ticket in order to ride the Whistler Village Gondola up to the mountain top. You can purchase sightseeing lift tickets online from our PEAK 2 PEAK/Sightseeing page or at the Whistler Blackcomb ticket window (located at the base of the Whistler Village Gondola) on the day of your tour.

Where do I meet for the tour?

Guests will meet at the Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures office located on Whistler Mountain 15 minutes before tour departure. To get to the office, you will first need to upload the Whistler Gondola from Whistler Village which takes approximately 30 minutes - please ensure you leave plenty of time. To get to the mountaintop office, take the Whistler Gondola to the Roundhouse (the second stop). The office is located approximately 100 metres down the path from where you unload. It is the last cabin on the right with signage for Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures.

What equipment do I need?

All glacier travel equipment is included and will be provided at the start of the tour. The following items are also recommended:

  • Weatherproof shell jacket and pants/shorts (depending on alpine weather forecast - pants recommended for the Glissade tour)
  • Warm layers
  • 2 pairs of socks, preferably synthetic or wool hiking socks
  • Light gloves
  • Hiking boots
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Camera
  • Small Backpack
  • Personal items you require for a day in the outdoors
  • Harness and helmet - these are included but you many bring your own if you have one

What level of fitness do I need to have for these tours?

All glacier tours are physical and do require a moderate amount of fitness.
