Legends of the Land Special Exhibit

Location: Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre

This exhibit shares how traditional knowledge and history were passed down from generation to generation through stories. Guests can experience storytelling, bold artwork, petroglyphs and pictographs showing the connection to the land of the Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) territory and the Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat Nation) territory.

The Coast Mountains: Recent Works by Edward Burtynsky

Internationally-acclaimed, Toronto-based artist Edward Burtynsky presents a selection of large-scale, photo-based works. Over the past 40 years, Burtynsky has focused his camera lens on the impact of human industry around the planet and he continues to be a leader in artistic discourse that speaks to a greater social consciousness. Gathered Leaves: Discoveries from the Drawings Vault

Location: Audain Art Museum

This landmark exhibition features rarely seen drawings from the National Gallery of Canada’s renowned Prints and Drawings collection. Established in 1921 as the first of its kind in Canada, it spans the 15th to 20th centuries and highlights masterpieces by Edgar Degas, Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, alongside newly acquired and never-before-displayed works.

Make a wooden paddle rattle using pre-cut wood and copper beads. Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations rattles or shakers are instruments that are used in ceremonies, community songs or gifted to newborn babies to repel bad spirits.

Forest Walk & Tea with Nourish

Part of Nourish Whistler Wellness Series, embark on a guided journey that begins with a traditional welcome from a Cultural Ambassador, accompanied by a ceremonial song. The experience includes a 15-minute film on the land's history and significance, before an interpretive forest walk through the Salish Stroll where the Ambassador introduces regional herbs and medicinal plants used for medicine and crafts. The tour concludes with a sampling of teas, and each guest departs with a unique gift.

Canada Day Long Weekend in Whistler

Canada Day is a time to reflect on all of Canada’s history, including past and present truths about our relationship with Indigenous peoples. Celebrate Canada Day by developing a deeper understanding of our first peoples through cultural experiences including live performances and storytelling at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre.
