Came to KA-ZE twice during my stay at the Westin Whistler and had a pretty good experience overall. I ordered the chirashi both times, and my experience varied depending on the chef. The first visit (with the older chef) was great—good portion size and a solid selection of sashimi. However, on my second visit, the younger chef prepared it, and the portion was slightly smaller, with less variety in the sashimi selection, which was a bit disappointing.
Aside from that, the other dishes were well-executed—the tofu and eggplant dishes were especially good. The atmosphere was nice, and service was friendly, making it a good spot for Japanese food in Whistler. Would love to see more consistency in the chirashi, but overall, it’s still worth a visit.

We like coming here for an early and quick dinner after skiing before heading back to Vancouver.
They open at 5 pm; if you come early, you might be able to walk in.
I like they are more homey - nothing fancy - but still traditional style in terms of their interior.
We have been here multiple times. We have tried a few of their appetizers and sushi rolls. Food has been consistently high standards. The eggplant turned out to be unexpectedly food while the dumplings were fairly standard. Sushi rolls were all quite nice.
They do not have a lot of desserts to choose from. For some reason, green tea ice cream was out for a couple of times. We had tried mango ice cream, which was quite refreshing; and green tea cheesecake, which was a pleasant surprise. I guess we will need to keep coming back for green tea ice cream.
The service was good.
The price was reasonable. They have more expensive items/ sets land we will come back to try more.

Absolutely delicious restaurant with super-fresh ingredients. The tuna sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and the shabu shabu beef was so very delicious. It came with a giant plate of veggies which made me so happy, given fresh vegetables are typically hard to come by on the mountains. Beef tataki was very substantial and delicious.
There were quite a few local beers on offer as well to try.
The restaurant is cozy and super busy. Service is a little slow. I'd suggest making a reservation if you don't want to miss out.
Overall, it was a delicious and warming meal. I would definitely visit again.

The place is authentic, the food is delicious, and the service is spectacular. A wonderful place, it’s a 10 out of 10. The best place to eat here in Bresla. Excellent atmosphere, everything is excellent.

this is our new favorite dinner spot in the village! we walked in around 6 and they were able to seat us at the sushi bar. we ordered green tea, and they made sure our cups were never empty the entire time we dined with them. we ordered the rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, caterpillar roll, and tropical roll. spicy tuna and rainbow were our favorites but they were all incredible. delicious, fresh, and such a great price. service was impeccable, and this was by far the coziest spot we’ve been to here, and will absolutely be back.
