Vail Resorts Announces 2025/26 Winter Opening Dates and What's Ahead for Upcoming Season

Winter is just around the corner, and Vail Resorts has unveiled its opening dates with Whistler Blackcomb set to kick off the 2025/26 winter season on November 27, weather and conditions permitting. This year brings continued focus on guest experience, with Epic Passes offering early-season access and new perks designed to make skiing and riding even more seamless.

Whistler Blackcomb is also rolling into winter with a milestone: the 60th Anniversary of Whistler Mountain. As part of the celebration, the resort is highlighting Wonder Routes, a curated collection of themed trails and waypoints like Alpine Sampler, Going for Gold and Here for the Après, all designed to guide skiers and riders through the mountain’s most iconic experiences. Whistler Blackcomb has announced updates to its parking program for the Winter 2025/26 season. The expanded program builds off the success of last year’s trial carpool program and is part of Whistler Blackcomb's ongoing efforts to improve the arrivals experience for guests, while encouraging more sustainable travel. Season Passes On Sale Now for Winter 2025/26!

There are several pass options available, with something to suit the needs of every skier and rider, from Day Passes to full Season Passes. Passes are available on whistler.com when booked in a lodging package, with savings of up to 65% off Whistler Blackcomb Day Passes. Epic Passes give you the freedom to not only visit Whistler Blackcomb, but more than 70 owned and partner resorts in North America, Europe and Japan. Lift tickets will be limited this season. Vail Resorts Cuts Lift Ticket Prices in Half for Friends of Epic Pass Holders

Vail Resorts wants to make it easier for its most loyal guests to bring their friends to the slopes, in celebration of the social side of skiing and snowboarding. The company announced "Epic Friend Tickets," a new benefit for 2025/26 season-long Epic Pass Holders to share incredible savings with those they want to ski and ride with most. Learn more.

Sölden in Austria is Now Epic

With only one day ahead of the May 26 deadline to buy an Epic Pass for the lowest price of the year, Vail Resorts announced that Austrian skiing and snowboarding will be even more Epic with Sölden joining the 2025/26 Epic Pass lineup. Located in the Ötztal Valley in Tyrol and just 52 miles from Innsbruck Airport, Sölden is famous for its premium skiing on a seamlessly connected glacier and mountain ski area. Earlier this May, Austrian ski areas Saalbach and Zell am See-Kaprun, Mayrhofen and Hintertux, and Silvretta Montafon joined the 2025/26 Epic Pass roster. Read more at news.vailresorts.com.

Free Transit and E-Bike Share Return for 2025

Free Transit on Long Weekends and Special Holidays

Buses are free on summer weekends and statutory holidays from June 21 to September 1, 2025 (Labour Day), every Saturday, Sunday, Canada Day, BC Day and Labour Day. Additional free weekends include May long weekend (May 17 – 19), Truth and Reconciliation Day (September 30) and Thanksgiving long weekend (October 11 – 13). The Resort Municipality of Whistler’s New Year’s Eve Special service includes free service all day within Whistler. This program is made possible by revenue from pay parking in Day Lots 1 to 5.
