Tourism Whistler's Star Rating System

Tourism Whistler has developed a Whistler-specific accommodation rating system that provides consumers with valuable information regarding the various types of accommodation available in the resort. The Star Rating System will help you to decide which lodging will best fulfill your needs as the ratings are determined  upon services and amenities offered at properties, and upon in-suite amenities. 5 Stars are luxury, fully appointed properties and rooms, while 2 Stars offer more limited property amenities and services.

Luxury
4.5 Star - 5 Star

Luxurious accommodations with highly-refined personalized services, including 24-hour, on-site check in, on-site food and beverage or catering services and daily housekeeping. Hotels will also include on-site pool, hot tub and spa.

Deluxe
4 Star

Mid-level accommodations with limited or partial services. These may include onsite or offsite front desk, pool or hot tub amenities. These amenities vary by property and supplier.

Moderate
3 Star - 3.5 Star

Mid-level accommodations with partial services, such as a 24-hour, off-site front desk.

How Star Ratings are Calculated

Star ratings provide consistent and reliable information on what to expect from a Whistler accommodation.

The accommodation rating system has been divided into property categories to differentiate between Whistler's diverse accommodation types. The property categories include Hotels, Condominium Lodges, Condo / Townhomes and Homes. Different criteria have been developed to establish ratings within each category some of which are specific for property types (eg on site front desk for condos). Each property is rated on a number of criteria including in-room amenities and property amenities (listed below).

There is also a rating for overall impression which takes into account Whistler-specific criteria such as proximity to slopes and proximity to village. All properties are assessed based on the set criteria and rated on a scale of 2-5 using a "Stars" system.
