A wave of red mittens hits Whistler!
On February 5, the community waved their red mittens, cheered on the torchbearers and
celebrated the arrival of the Olympic torch on Day 99 with a cauldron lighting,
face-painting, the 2010 mascots, singing and drumming with the Squamish First Nation
and a performance by Whistler Children's Choir and the Whistler Singers. Juno award
winner Barney Bentall and his Grand Cariboo Opry jammed with local musicians and
Whistler's own Ali Milner closed the festivities. The torch celebration officially
kicked off the arrival of the Games and with the Opening Ceremonies just days away, the
countdown is on.
