Bobsleigh at Whistler Sliding Centre

Bobsleigh at Whistler Sliding Centre

Bobsleighs are built to hold either a two-person or four-person team and feature a rounded fiberglass nose and four steel runners. The competition begins with racers pushing off as fast as they can for 50 metres, then jumping into the bobsleigh for a seated descent down the 1,450 metre track. The driver steers while the brakeperson stops the sled at the end.

Four heats are held over two days with the gold going to the team with the lowest combined time. Men compete in the two-person and four-person races while women compete in the two-person only.
