Cross-country (or nordic) skiing is one of Whistler's best kept (and most affordable) secrets. No chairlift lineups here; just you, perfectly groomed trails and Whistler's enchanting winter wonderland to explore. Lost Lake Park It would be hard to find a more idyllic setting for a day of cross-country skiing than Lost Lake Park. With 32 kilometres of groomed trails that offer stunning scenery overlooking Lost Lake as well as both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, Lost Lake Park is perfect for novice, intermediate, and expert cross-country skiers. There's even four kilometres of trails with lighting to allow you to enjoy some fo the trails during the evening. The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) maintains the trail system daily and provides water stations, a warming hut and friendly volunteers who can answer questions and help you make the most of your day. Lost Lake Park is located just a short walk from Whistler Village - simply follow the pedestrian signs, or park your car at lot 5 off Lorimer Road. Callaghan Valley and the Whistler Olympic Park A venue for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games that opened on December 15, 2007, the Callaghan Valley's Whistler Olympic Park gives you the opportunity to experience 35 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails. Surrounded by stunning views and pristine old-growth forest, the Callaghan Valley trails let you ski through the Olympic and Paralympic biathlon and cross-country stadiums, and beneath the huge ski jumps. The Whistler Olympic Park is also the first Olympic Nordic Venue to host all three Nordic sport stadiums at one site. After the 2010 Games, the venue will serve as a legacy for the enjoyment of local residents, visitors and athletes. The Whistler Olympic Park is located 18 kilometres southwest of Whistler via Highway 99. From the highway, the centre of the Whistler Olympic Park is located 10 kilometres up the new Callaghan Valley access road.
