GO Fest - Whistler’s Great Outdoors Festival

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first ever GO Fest in 2014! Stay tuned for more information on next year's event.

May is a time of year when summer and winter meet, where sliding on snow, golfing, bike riding and water sports can be enjoyed on a single day. The inaugural Go Fest will take place in Whistler in May on the Victoria Day Long Weekend, with four days of events celebrating Whistler’s great outdoors.

GO Fest 2014 has now ended. Please check back regularly for information on what will be in store for 2015.

2014 Festival Events

As Whistler's inaugral GO Fest, 2014 saw a burst of outdoor events that included the the AlpenGlow Run and the return of The Great Snow Earth Water Race. Intended as a celebration of outdoor activities, GO Fest definitely delivered and we can't wait for next year!

Friday May 16

Full Friday Event Details

Painting the Peaks

11:00 AM | Nita lake Lodge, Riverside Resort, Scandinave Spa

Enjoy an interactive adventure or art creation with artists from White Dog Whistler Studio Gallery as they create art inspired by the great outdoors.

GO Enduro

5:00 PM |Whistler Mountain Bike Park

A mountain bike race featuring three timed downhill stages in Whistler Mountain Bike Park as well as two liaison stages of uphill or cross country sections. Registration is $30 - Course details and registration will be available in mid-April at the festival website.

Music Concert: The Sheepdogs

8:00 PM | Whistler Village Square

Award-winning rock and roll revivalists The Sheepdogs will kick off the festival with a free concert in the heart of Whistler Village.

WFF Adventure Film Series - The Summit

6:00 PM | Millennium Place

Ever dream of reachign the top of K2? The Summit is an award-winning documentary that follows 18 mountain climbers who reached the top in 2008, only to have 11 die within 48 hours. A thrilling film with breath taking scenes and moving testimony.

Whistler 5 on 5 Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

9:00 AM | Myrtle Phillips School

Whistler 5 on 5 is throwing their second annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament, taking place at GO Fest Whistler on Saturday and Sunday. Get information and register teams for this fast-paced and engaging tournament at the tournament website until April 15, 2014.

DiscGO Disc Golf Tournament

10:00 AM (Round 1), 2:00 PM (Round 2)| Spruce Grove Whistler Disc Golf Course

The Whistler Disc Golf Course will play host to DiscGO, a two-round disc golf tournament, drawing intermediate, advanced and pro level players to vie for cash prizes. The total number of competitors will be capped at 96 - visit the festival website for more information.

The Great Green River Challenge

11:00 AM & 2:00 PM | Green River

Crews of six, including at least two men or two women, will run the Green River while completing a gauntlet of challenges including a flat water slalom sprint, Sumo wrestling atop a raft, a raft flip, mass start river race and river time trials. Registration is $300 per team in advance online with registration opening April 4. Visit the race website for more information on format, rules and registration.

WFF Adventure Film Series - Desert Runners

What does it take to compete in an ultramarathon throught the desert? Follow a group of non-professional runners attempting what's considered to be the most difficult ultramarathon out there.

WFF Adventure Film Series - Maidentrip

At 14 years of age, Laura Dekker sets out on a two-year saily voyage around the world - alone. Get a glimpse of her incredible journey through this documentuary debut from Jillian Schlesinger.

WFF Adventure Film Series - Mountain Biking Showcase

Get pumped up to spend the summer on two-wheels with this collection of short films featuring some epic Sea to Sky trails and some of our most famous riders.

AlpenGlow Run

8:00 PM Start | Whistler Village and Lost Lake Park

A family-friendly, fun run where participants can run, walk, skip and dance their way through Whistler Village and into the illuminated forest trails circling Lost Lake. At just under seven kilometres this glowing excursion is a great warm up for the summer season’s more serious running races, and an entertaining and uncompetitive introduction to organized running events. One of Whistler’s favourite DJs, go-go legend Foxy Moron, will provide funky beats for the entire run, and Whistler’s lululemon store will bring additional energy and animate AlpenGlow with cheer stations where runners can catch their breath, get some support and hydration, or just stop to enjoy interactive displays. visit the festival website for more information and registration.

Music Concert: the Boom Booms

The Boom Booms will welcome AlpenGlow runners back to Whistler Village and share their happy vibes with a free, live concert. The Boom Booms’ unique brand of joyously raucous music will be the perfect close to the AlpenGlow event.

Great Snow Earth Water Race

Race Start 12:00 PM

Start gathering your teams - the epic Great Snow Earth Water Race, last held in Whistler more than 20 years ago, is back! It's a mass participation, multi-sport event to be held on snow, water and dirt. Mixed teams of 5-7 people will race over 6 stages, each one featuring a favourite springtime activity:

  • Stage 1: Ski/Snowboard Touring (mass start)
  • Stage 2: Downhill Ski/Snowboard
  • Stage 3: Downhill Mountain Bike
  • Stage 4: Running
  • Stage 5: Canoe (2 person stage)
  • Stage 6: Cross Country Bike

Get an glimpse into the minds and souls of a handful of diverse walkers and they hike 2,663 mailes of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Music Concert: She Stole My Beer

Local musical icons She Stole My Beer will play after the Great Snow Earth Water Race, with a mix of covers and originals to keep the energy high and celebrations going after the race.

The Great Slush Cup

12:30 PM | Slush Pit near Glacier Creek Lodge, Blackcomb Mountain

It wouldn’t be spring at Whistler Blackcomb without some slush pit action! The Great Slush Cup will challenge competitors to dress to impress and employ all the style and skill they can muster in their attempts to clear the massive slush pit. This event will be free for all participants skiing and riding that day. Registration will take place at the event.

Yoga Jam

Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre
