Editor’s note: This blog on Earth Week in Whistler was updated in April 2026.
In the heart of the Coast Mountains, Whistler is a sanctuary where the wild meets the refined, where every trail, tree and turn tells a story of respect and reverence for our extraordinary planet.
Although environmental gratitude is deeply ingrained in the ethos of the Whistler community, we are behind on some of the targets we set to hit in 2030. Knowing this, it’s even more important for us to come together, locals and visitors, to get back on track so we can protect what matters.
Earth Day to Earth Week with AWARE
AWARE, which stands for Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment, has worked with the community for three decades to deliver inspiring evidence-based solutions to the environmental issues that affect Whistler.
They believe that our world is at a pivotal moment and that a collective voice from citizens will help encourage governments and the private sector to take a leading role in the environmental crisis. Businesses, community organizations and individuals all hold the power to influence change. Every person’s actions are vital, and Earth Week is a great time to learn what you can do to help move the dial.
This year, AWARE is leading a series of events to take action and mobilize the Whistler community. Starting April 18, get involved and invite family, friends and colleagues to join AWARE and celebrate Earth Week. Let’s make this more than a moment, let’s make it a movement.
Whistler’s Earth Week Events
April 8: Earth Day Prep: Cut Costs, Cut Food Waste
Get your business ready for Earth Day 2026 with practical, high-impact food waste solutions. Every year, local businesses lose millions due to wasted food, increased disposal feeds and inefficient practices. Join AWARE Whistler and the Whistler Chamber for a hands-on, solutions-focused workshop designed for restaurants, hotels and grocery retailers.
April 18: Earth Week: Repair Café
Don’t toss it… repair or reimagine it with the Repair Café, upcycle and repair clothing and household items. Bring your items to the Whistler Public Library and retail partners to fix and upcycle your pre-loved gear. Reduce waste and support a circular economy. This is a non-ticketed (first-come, first-served) by-donation event happening from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Whistler Public Library.
April 21: Earth Week: Clothing Swap
Reject fast fashion and swap clothes, shoes and accessories you no longer need or wear. Fill a bag of your previously loved clothes and meet us at Nita Lake Lodge to exchange them for a wardrobe refresh! Visit the AWARE event page for more info.
April 22: Earth Week: Yoga for the Environment Fundraiser
Slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the natural world around us in this hatha-based practice inspired by the Sea to Sky corridor. All proceeds from this class will support AWARE Whistler’s work protecting our local environment. Everyone is welcome, but be sure to book your spot in advance.
April 23: Earth Week: Our Power, Our Planet Evening
Join this special community evening at the Chateau Fairmont Whistler, bringing together long-term collaborators Dr. Tonya Smith and Jordon Gabriel. The theme of Earth Week this year is Our Power, Our Planet, and this presentation and open dialogue will focus on the power of collaboration, sharing how the duo incorporates traditional ecological knowledge with forest management. Be sure to get your tickets in advance, as this event is set to be popular.
April 24: Earth Week: Pitch In Day & BBQ
Volunteer with Whistler community groups and roll up your sleeves to clear litter in Nesters & White Gold neighbourhoods. Fuel up at a post-event community BBQ hosted by the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Learn more on AWARE’s event page.
