Whistler Locations Featured in TV Show Age of Attraction

Ever been sucked-in by the autoplay function on your streaming service? The opening scenes of Netflix’s new reality-TV show Age of Attraction are particularly hard to ignore. Having never watched a reality dating show, the stunning aerial shots of contestants flying into Whistler over snow-capped mountains and landing on iridescent Green Lake had me hooked.

Harbour Air’s smooth float plane landing opener provides a deceptively calm intro to a collection of lonely singles looking for “ageless” love in Whistler’s rocky surrounds. Between group dates and one-on-one time, the series features iconic Whistler activities, providing thrills, chills and deep dives into different personalities. Below, I’ve put together a two-day itinerary to relive the couple’s most memorable moments.

Day 1

Elevate Your Heart Rate

Whether it’s a romantic weekend away or a couple of days with your bestie, nothing says quality time like ditching the hassle of driving. Start the weekend in style and travel by floatplane from downtown Vancouver directly to the heart of the Whistler Valley.

Relax and take in the rugged peaks of the Coast Mountains, as well as picturesque Howe Sound (featured in many cutaways), before landing on Green Lake, just like your favourite loveless singles, less than an hour after take-off.

Linger for Lunch

This weekend is all about getting to know each other better, but you can’t listen when you’re hungry!

Located steps from the float plane, Table Nineteen is the perfect place to sit and gaze upon the turquoise waters of glacial-fed Green Lake while fuelling up for your afternoon adventures. For optimum carb-loading, try one of their delicious gourmet pizzas paired with a non-alcoholic beer.

INSIDER TIP: In the TV show, contestants are whisked off to The Brew Creek Centre for their arrival drinks and speed dating. However, access to the centre is currently limited to “modest-sized business groups and not-for-profit, socially-driven enterprises.” Instead, chat to the locally-based team at Whistler.com, who will happily find you a romantic basecamp for your time in Whistler.

Go With the Flow

So far, you’ve enjoyed some leisurely conversation, but how will your relationship hold up under pressure? Find out on a two-hour, adrenaline-pumping whitewater rafting adventure.

First, you’ll get up close and personal with the milky-green glacial water of Green Lake, as you’re guided through some basic paddle strokes. But the calm waters won’t last long, as you and your budding relationship are about to be thrown headfirst into ice-cold, turbulent, class two and three rapids. Best to hold on tight and go with the flow!

Soar Into Each Other’s Arms

Not ready to talk about it just yet? Still working off that pizza? Jump into a RZR and head straight up the mountain for a SuperFly Zipline tour.

The final of four exhilarating ziplines has cables close enough together that you can hold hands with your adventure buddy, just like Libby and Andrew on their first date. How romantic!

After you’ve come back down to earth, you can sip hot chocolate around the fireplace and delve into all the hard questions. Or go off-script and throw some axes; it’s been a big day.

INSIDER TIP: Both the rafting and zipline tours include a complimentary day pass to the TAG basecamp experience.

Day 2

Get Lost Together

After breakfast, rent a bike and take the well-marked gravel trail out to Whistler’s not-so Lost Lake. In Age of Attraction, the contestants take the wide Lakeside Loop trail past Lovers’ Corner, but without a camera crew in tow, you can take the time to explore some of the double and single-track trails beloved by Whistler locals.

Just make sure to communicate any turns! The only place you should be getting lost is in each other’s eyes.

Headed for a Train Wreck

Before their dramatic falling out, Vanessa and Logan had a great time exploring the Cheakamus Suspension bridge and the Train Wreck dual-use bike and pedestrian trail. Play Romeo and Juliet on the abandoned train cars, or use the brightly coloured graffiti as a unique backdrop for those keepsake selfies you’ve been longing to take.

INSIDER TIPS: Rent e-bikes and bike down to Train Wreck using the Valley Trail.

Reconnect in the Forest

Wishing you hadn’t put your foot in your mouth? Take a break from those well-intentioned, but poorly delivered confessions, and reconnect with each other and the land on a guided experience with Talaysay Tours

Forest Therapy, sometimes also known as Forest Bathing, is a guided, nature-based wellness experience that invites guests to slow down, engage their senses, and reconnect with the land through presence, mindfulness, and gentle observation.

Jorge and Vanelle went Forest Bathing on their first date, and with the addition of a blindfold, were able to develop trust in each other through a mindful appreciation of the natural world around them.

INSIDER TIPS: The blindfold experience was custom provided by Society of Trees, who offer the Forest Bathing experience for large and corporate groups.

Soak it All in

After the literal highs and lows of getting to know each other in a mountain environment, the Scandinave Spa is the perfect place to rejuvenate and reflect.

Offering hot and cold pools, steam rooms and saunas, all situated in a tranquil forest setting, most spa goers spend a few hours alternating between the traditional Nordic hot, cold, relax cycle for the full hydrotherapy experience.

INSIDER TIP: Despite Chris’ impressive backflip in the TV show, jumping into the pools is expressly not permitted! The thermal journey is a no-talking, no-children, no-phone zone, and guests are expected to follow a peaceful, mindful experience.

Two days have flown by, and having only scratched the surface of what Whistler has to offer, you have a big decision to make. Will this long-distance relationship work for you? Are you ready to take the next step and commit to visiting again? I’d put an Olympic ring on it.
