Insider’s Guide to Fine Dining in Whistler

Sophisticated Coast Mountain culinary experiences, made distinct by refined, welcoming, and unparalleled offerings, are a signature of Whistler’s celebrated restaurant scene. Here, fine dining replaces eating with experiencing, offering guests unique moments where delicacy meets decadence, inspiration feels inviting, and satisfaction lingers long after the final bite.

From long-standing icons to newer standouts, Whistler is home to an exceptional collection of award-winning restaurants. Below, six of the resort’s most esteemed fine-dining establishments are profiled; each singular, noteworthy, and utterly outstanding.

Rimrock Café

A pillar of fine dining in Whistler, Rimrock Café has been at the forefront of the local culinary scene for more than four decades. Sustainability and seasonality are cornerstones of its coast-inspired menu. From expertly prepared game meats and specialty seafood to arguably the most famous dessert in Whistler, the legendary sticky toffee pudding, the story of Rimrock Café is one of friendship, passion for hospitality, and a love for exceptional dining.

High-end indulgence is paired with a genuinely relaxed, family-style atmosphere, a place where first-time visitors and 40-year regulars feel at home. It’s a restaurant you simply don’t want to leave once you’ve crossed the threshold.

“We want guests to leave feeling cared for, well fed, and already looking forward to coming back,” remark owners Chris McKinney and Steve Maile. Their success in fostering this sentiment is undeniable. “Many of our guests first came to Rimrock to celebrate a special occasion, and years later return with their children to celebrate the same milestones, which is something we’re deeply proud of.”

Pride and polish define the dishes served at Rimrock Café. To mark its 40th anniversary, the Creekside restaurant is collecting and compiling stories from guests who have a memory or moment to share. If you haven’t already, become part of this legacy, where milestones are marked and memories made over a delectable, mouth-watering menu.

Bearfoot Bistro

For more than three decades, Bearfoot Bistro has played an instrumental role in shaping Whistler’s fine dining scene. Frequently listed among Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants and recognized by the Distinguished Restaurants of North America, Bearfoot is a true landmark. Its motto says it all: “a fork, a glass, a drop of magic.”

Bearfoot Bistro is world-renowned for its signature experiences: the coldest vodka tasting room on the planet (kept at -32°C, where guests don Arctic parkas to enter); a 15,000-bottle wine cellar, the largest in British Columbia and one of the most impressive in Western Canada, and guest-sabering champagne offerings, all complemented by modern, coast-to-coast Canadian cuisine. Alongside these showstoppers, the food itself is celebrated for its outstanding flavours, appealing textures and creative originality.

“Immersive dining” defines the Bearfoot experience, says Marketing & Communications Manager Marc Des Rosiers. A live pianist sets the tone while guests dine within view of the open-concept kitchen. Seating at the Champagne Bar or the coveted Chef’s Table offers an extra layer to the experience.

A daily-changing Chef’s Tasting Menu is paired with thoughtful wine suggestions. Signature moments include the Vesper Nitro Martini, made tableside with billowing clouds of liquid nitrogen, and the dramatic Nitro Ice Cream, also prepared tableside, creating a fog-like effect and resulting in an exceptionally smooth, rich texture.

Whether it’s après-ski, dinner, or late-night cocktails, a visit to Bearfoot Bistro is celebratory, polished and definitely has a drop of magic.

SIDECUT Steakhouse

A crackling fireplace and spanning overhead timber beams reflect the rugged alpine surroundings, creating a sense of warmth and welcome at SIDECUT Steakhouse. Grounded in a simple yet powerful philosophy, every meal is an experience, SIDECUT sets the stage for moments that linger long after the final course.

Il Caminetto

Il Caminetto is guided by a simple yet powerful intention: to give guests a genuine sense of place. Executive Chef Mark McLoughlin describes the restaurant as “fresh and vibrant” and “high energy,” qualities that are immediately felt upon arrival.

Il Caminetto’s menu is shaped by the question: How can local be done in an Italian way? The answer reveals itself in a harmonious balance of Mediterranean sensibilities and regionally inspired flavours. Locally sourced products and meats take centre stage, resulting in a menu as inviting as the ambiance. At Il Caminetto, you arrive and leave feeling cared for.

The restaurant boasts a long-established history, having first opened in the early 1980s as Umberto’s before being shepherded by the Toptable Group in 2017. Today, it is synonymous with style and quality. Dishes such as Fregola Sarda ai Frutti di Mare and Risotto ai Funghi, alongside Tofino Spring Salmon and Lumina Valley Lamb Brassato, showcase a thoughtfully localized palette.

Distinguished Pacific Northwest fare is served with a sense of familial generosity. The approach shines through the menu’s emphasis on shareable starters, where polish and precision are balanced with a cozy, home-like atmosphere.

Overseeing the kitchen since 2019, Chef McLoughlin is “in love with the simplicity and focus on ingredients that come with Italian cooking.” That passion infuses every dish, translating into a dining experience that must be experienced. At Il Caminetto, McLoughlin and his team ensure guests are treated like VIPs, an impression that lingers long after the meal is over.

Wild Blue Restaurant + Bar

Since opening in 2022, Wild Blue has made a remarkable impression on Whistler’s dining scene. Vancouver Magazine dubbed it “The Most Important Whistler Restaurant Opening in a Decade,” while in 2025, Condé Nast Traveler named it “The Hot Table to Book in Whistler.” Pacific Northwest–inspired fare, anchored by sustainable seafood and locally sourced ingredients, defines a menu marked by originality and creative confidence.

“Wild Blue is a place where elevated cuisine, thoughtful hospitality, and a sense of ease coexist seamlessly,” says partner and Restaurant Director Neil Henderson.

Wild Blue is led by an exceptional team of founding partners, including celebrated Iron Chef Alex Chen. Executive Chef Derek Bendig brings extensive experience and a classic French and European culinary touch to the nightly execution, while Chen oversees menu development and the kitchen as a whole.

The intention is for guests to leave deeply satisfied, though many find themselves lingering longer than planned.

“Our bar program tends to draw people in and keep them a little longer,” Henderson notes. “The cocktails follow the same philosophy as the food: seasonal, familiar, and crafted with intention, always with a fun twist.”

When guests do eventually depart, they leave feeling cared for, inspired by the food, and already thinking about their next visit.

Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar

For more than 40 years, Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar has been a driving force behind culinary innovation in Whistler. Located in the heart of Whistler Village, the bright, open-concept space focuses on ingredient-driven seasonality, highlighting local products that reflect the surrounding region.

Internationally renowned, Araxi is celebrated not only for its food and wine program but also for its warm, welcoming hospitality. Guided by Culinary Director and Executive Chef James Watt and part of the esteemed Toptable Restaurant Group, Araxi elevates dining through thoughtful details that enhance every flavour.

Signature dishes include the Miso Marinated BC Sablefish, a menu fixture for 27 years, a Japanese dish with distinctly BC ingredients. This shows Araxi’s sense of diversity, as on the menu you’ll find unique offerings like the Korean-inspired Bucatini Pasta Mentaiko, alongside classically French and Italian dishes. The restaurant also boasts a sushi and raw bar, along with an impressive wine cellar. Needless to say, dining at Araxi is a special experience.

“What’s available dictates what we’re doing,” says Watt. “Local is our calling card.”

From its earliest days, Araxi has remained committed to working closely with regional producers. “I’m proud that we’ve stayed strong to what we said we wanted to be,” reflects Watt. That integrity is felt in the food, the atmosphere and the service. Guests leave feeling seen, heard, welcomed, and appreciated.

To dine at Araxi is to be part of an original vision, one rooted in legacy, locality and impeccable taste. Araxi also has its own cookbook, extending that experience beyond the table.
