The 2014 Winter Games in Sochi Russia officially kicked off today and throngs of spectators turned up at Whistler Olympic Plaza to cheer on Canada’s team and relive some of the good times we had here for the 2010 Winter Games.

Per capita, Whistler is sending more athletes to compete in these games than any other community in Canada so The Insider sat down last week with local snowboarder Mercedes Nicoll, before she headed over for her 3rd Winter Games.

Feet BanksFeet Banks moved to Whistler at age 12 so his parents could live the dream and ski as much as possible. He ended up living it too.
