Whistler Mountain opened on November 22, 2014 and The Insider threw together a couple videos to document the event. Both videos were originally posted directly to the Go Whistler Facebook Page (which you should definitely like and follow). But to keep them easily accessible, we are reposting them here for The Insider archives.

The first video longtime features long time local artist Vincent Massey and pro skier Dana Flahr talking about watching the seasons shift into winter and the blast of stoke that comes with opening day anticipation.

Opening Day arrives! In this video Dana, boutique ski builder Sheldon Steckman and local artist Chantelle Pellerin head up Whistler mountain.

The weather wasn’t perfect for opening day on Blackcomb Mountain, but the après was. The Insider lives the good life at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler with pro riders Helen Schettini and Robin Van Gyn

Feet Banks moved to Whistler at age 12 so his parents could live the dream and ski as much as possible. He ended up living it too. After leaving home Feet did a few good stints in warmer climates and 4 years of writing school before returning to the mountains to make ski movies, hammer out a journalism career and avoid the 9-5 lifestyle as long as possible. He’s been a hay farmer, a hole digger, a magazine editor and has a jump named after him on Blackcomb Mountain, Feet’s Air. It’s tiny.
