You’re sitting on the soft, lush grass at the Whistler Olympic Plaza. You have kombucha in one hand, and in front of you, on your picnic blanket, is an expertly crafted charcuterie box. The sun has started to set, and the pinky hues of the alpenglow make the mountain backdrop look surreal.  That’s when the musicians take to the stage.

You feel the energy ripple through the crowd as the first note reverberates into the warm evening air. This is the best way to end a summer’s day, with music, food and good vibes all around; this is the Whistler Summer Concert Series.

The Whistler Summer Concert Series, presented by the Resort Municipality of Whistler, will bring up-and-coming, trending and world-renowned musicians to Whistler Olympic Plaza for 13 nights this July and August. The music action starts on Tuesday, July 1,  with beloved Canadian musician Bahamas, a five-time JUNO Award winner and Grammy nominee.

“We take pride in welcoming the world to our beautiful mountain community,” says Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton. “Each year, the Whistler Summer Concert Series cultivates a vibrant atmosphere that brings people together through the exhilarating shared experience of live music. The international musical talent that the 2025 lineup brings to Whistler reflects the unmatched energy of our world-class resort. This year is a special year for the Resort Municipality of Whistler: it’s our 50th anniversary and Sam Roberts Band will headline the celebrations August 22.”

In addition to the Bahamas, this summer’s lineup features Moontricks, Wild Rivers, Mo’Kalamity, 54•40, Chali 2na and The House of Vibe, Chantal Kreviazuk, Paco Versailles, Owen Riegling, PINEO & LOEB, Sam Roberts Band, Drag in the Mountains, and Hollow Coves. Read on for who’s playing when and for links to their music.

Happening on Thursdays and Fridays throughout July and August (with a break during Crankwrox), each evening’s programming starts at 6:30 PM with a live DJ set before the headlining performers take to the stage at 7:30 PM, wrapping up around 9 PM. We suggest getting there early to scope out a good spot, organize your nibbles and simply relax and take it all in!

It’s good to note that one of the Paralympic legacies at Whistler Olympic Plaza is that it has a network of low-grade (less than five per cent) ramps and raised viewing areas for performances, so the music can be enjoyed by all.

Tuesday, July 1 – Bahamas with opening DJ SOUL CLUB

A masterful songwriter with an uncanny ability to weave humour, heartache, and melody, Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) has quietly become one of Canada’s most celebrated musical exports. With over 1.5 billion streams and a devoted global following, his music has resonated everywhere from Australia to Massey Hall to the Grand Ole Opry. Songs like “Lost in the Light” and “All The Time” have become streaming juggernauts, beloved by fans and fellow artists alike, including Taylor Swift, Wilco, k.d. lang, and BTS. A true road warrior, Bahamas continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and his upcoming performance promises an unforgettable journey through his acclaimed catalogue.

Thursday, July 3 – Moontricks with Special Guest Mark Woodyard

Based in the rustic Kootenay mountains of Western Canada, Nathan Gurley and Sean Rodman of
renowned electro-folk duo Moontricks draw inspiration from the ongoing cycles of the natural world.
There’s a kind of technicolour campfire quality to their uniquely hybrid sound: each track is steeped in
tradition and polished with a futuristic sheen, mixing organic folk, roots rock, and old-time blues with
modern electronic production.

Friday, July 4 – Wild Rivers with opening DJ Peacefrog

Platinum-selling indie trio Wild Rivers has a gift for introspective lyrics and genre-fluid melodies that
transmit wisdom beyond their years. That expertise can be found across their new album, Better Now—a companion to their record, Never Better, released this past July. Recorded in Joshua Tree with co-
producer Gabe Wax, both Never Better and Better Now are filled with the band’s “inventive melodies, rich harmonies, and lush instrumentals” (Associated Press).

They pull from a spectrum of sounds, imbuing pop, rock, indie, and folk into each song’s blueprint.

Since their 2016 debut, Wild Rivers has released three albums to critical acclaim, been nominated for Breakthrough Group of The Year at the 2023 JUNO Awards, saw their breakout single, “Thinking ‘Bout Love,” certified Gold in the United States and Australia and Platinum in Canada, and garnered over 850 million global streams.

Friday, July 25 – Owen Riegling with opening DJ T Rex

Owen Riegling is the kind of artist so down to earth, his boots are always dirty. He’s a small-town kid with his roots firmly planted in the songs he sings. Riegling was raised in Mildmay, Ontario, a town of 1,200, where keeping yourself grounded is the only way up. It’s no accident that the same small-town humility and authenticity translated into the massive Platinum-certified radio hit single “Old Dirt Roads.”

  • Wednesday, July 2 and Saturday, July 5 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • Wednesday, July 9 – Grease

Getting There

The Whistler Summer Concert Series and Movies in the Plaza are being held at Whistler Olympic Plaza, in Whistler Village North. If your accommodation is in Whistler Village, then it’s an easy walk along the Village Stroll, but if you’re a little further afield, then consider using some pedal power.

The car-free Whistler Valley Trail stretches for 46 kilometres, connecting Whistler’s lakes, parks and neighbourhoods, the perfect way to cruise in for some mountain tunes. When you get to Whistler Olympic Plaza, there’s a complimentary bike valet service you can use to make sure your ride (and any other gear) is safe, which supports Whistler’s Big Moves climate action strategy.

What to Bring (and Not to Bring)

  • It can be hot in the sun, but as soon as it drops behind the mountains, it can get a little chilly, so bring some layers.
  • The concerts happen rain or shine, but don’t bring an umbrella or a tent to the concert as it will be a view blocker!
  • We suggest packing a picnic blanket to lie on the lawn, and if you’re considering bringing chairs, make sure they’re not too big or tall to block the view for other concert-goers.
  • Kids and fur babies are welcome, but be aware that people will be picnicking and are there to enjoy the tunes, so it’s not ideal if they’re playing food defence against your pooch or curious toddler.
  • If you’re going to be picnicking, bring your reusable drink bottles, straws, cutlery and other eating implements to reduce the usage of the recycling bins around the plaza area.

Dine Early

A lot of your favourite Whistler restaurants will be opening earlier on concert days, so check in with them to see if you can get an early reservation before the music starts. They may also have additional take-out options if you do want to dine while the music plays.

Nearby Nibbles

Whistler Olympic Plaza is ideally situated close to Main Street, a hub of grab-and-go food options. The Deli by Picnic offers beautifully curated charcuterie boxes and a range of sandwiches and vegan wraps.

For something warm, there’s Peaked Pies where you can get an Aussie-style pie topped with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy (they also do sweet treats and coffees). Splitz Grill is where to go for burgers and fries (they have great milkshakes too), and Hunter Gather does a yummy chicken shawarma and pulled jackfruit sandwich.

We also love the fresh pizza at Pasta Lupino (bought by the slice), a box of Crispy Chilli Beef or Pad Thai from Main Street Noodles or a fresh ahi poke tuna bowl from Main Street Poke. You could also pop into Fresh St. Market (which closes at 10 PM) to grab some goodies, including organic, cold-pressed juices, Whistler Roasting Company (coffee) and a range of gourmet donuts.

Other nearby options include The Brickworks, Brewhouse, Quattro and Alta Bistro. Visit Whistler.com’s dining guide for a full list of where to dine in Whistler. Of course, instead of eating early, you could eat late. Bearfoot Bistro has a Nightly Happy Hour from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM for guests looking for a late-night dinner option.

Concert Etiquette

  • You can’t consume alcohol at Whistler Olympic Plaza
  • There’s no smoking or vaping allowed
  • Pack out what you pack in, and if the bins are full, please take any garbage back to your accommodation and dispose of it there
  • Support local by buying your food and nibbles from nearby businesses
  • Keep dogs on a leash

It feels good to be able to come together again and revel in good music with the mountains as our backdrop. We hope we get to bop along to some tunes with you this summer!
