West Coast Float Whistler
Floating heals the body, enhances performance. People float to recuperate from endurance sports, relieve stress, recover from injuries, eliminate chronic pain, to meditate & relax. Floating allows you to relieve pain, stress & sleep deprivation; to relax, visualize & create. What is unique about floating is that it gives each of us what we need, yet it does so with the same three factors – reduced gravity, sensory deprivation and Epsom salt. The practice of floating involves lying in about 10 inches of water in the float pod; the water is filled with 650 lbs of Epsom salt, making you completely buoyant. The water & the air temperature are kept at skin temperature neutral, about 93.5 F, and there is no light or sound. This allows the body & mind to fully relax.
What to Bring
Come as you are! Towels, robes, earplugs, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer are all provided, making it easy to float after skiing or any other activity. You may wish to bring a contact lens case, a brush and personal beauty products.
Each float pod is contained within an individual suite so there is no requirement to wear a swim suit unless you wish to.
Preparation for floating is minimal. In the 24 hours before you float, do not shave or wax as the Epsom salt water may sting your skin if you have an abrasion.
Do not drink caffeinated beverages for several hours before you float, as it can make you a bit jittery. Eating a light meal about an hour to 90 minutes prior to your float should alleviate any hunger pangs.
