Booking Information

Guests can pick up their vehicle from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Downtown Vancouver and drop off in Whistler at the Cascade Lodge or vice versa.

Policies

  • Reservations do not include local and state taxes or airport fees
  • Only major credit cards accepted (not a debit card)
  • All rentals are subject to Avis standard rental requirements at time of rental.
  • The renter must have a valid driver’s licence and be 25 years of age or older.
  • Vehicles come with a full tank of gas at time of rental.
  • One-way rental rate based on a 24 hour rental period. Extra charges apply if rental is kept longer than 24 hours
  • If the car is returned early, the guest will be charged for the number of days reserved
  • The Minimum age for car rental is 21.
  • Drivers under the age of 25 are subject to a surcharge of $25 CAD per day; subject to change.
  • Certain car classes may not be available to drivers under age 25.
  • A valid driver’s licence from the drivers country of origin must be presented at the time of rental
  • If the license from the country of origin does not include a translation in English or French which enables Avis agents to clearly identify the individual, the class of vehicle they are authorized to drive and any restrictions imposed, the customer must also present an International driver's license issued in the same jurisdiction.
  • If any provision of this agreement conflicts with applicable national or local law, or if such law imposes different or additional requirements applicable to the rights or obligations of the parties hereunder, then the provisions of such law imposes different or additional requirements applicable to the rights or obligations of the parties hereunder, then the provisions of such law shall apply to the extent necessary to comply therewith.
  • Additional authorized drivers -- including spouses and partners -- must be registered on the rental agreement. Additional driver fee is $10.00 CAD per day per additional driver up to a max of $50.00 CAD per rental, per driver, where applicable; subject to change. All additional drivers should hold an Avis-honored charge card and must possess a valid driver's license.

What is the drive like from Vancouver to Whistler?

Highway 99 (also known as the Sea to Sky Highway) is a scenic route that winds along Howe Sound to Squamish before it starts the climb through the mountains to Whistler, with views of the majestic Tantalus Range, Cheakamus Canyon and Black Tusk on the way.

As a mountain highway it is subject to rapid changes in weather conditions including heavy snowfall in winter as well as rain, wildlife and other hazards. Please ensure you are aware of road rules for British Columbia, check current road conditions before leaving and are prepared for winter driving conditions if applicable.

How long does it take to drive from Whistler to Vancouver?

Whistler is 120 km (75 mi) from Vancouver, which takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes in clear conditions. Budget longer if you would like to stop and sightsee along the way and be aware that rain, snow or traffic conditions may affect the drive time and plan accordingly.

If coming from Vancouver International Airport, the distance is 137 km (85 mi) which takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Can I refuel my hire car in Whistler? Where is the nearest gas station to the drop off point?

Vehicles come with a full tank of gas at time of rental and the renter is responsible for refueling before vehicle return.

The closest gas station to the Whistler drop-off point is the Husky at Whistler Creekside, 7 kilometers south of Whistler Village. Turn left at the Creekside lights to access the gas station.
