2025 Film Festival Overview
With 106 films, including 10 Shortworks programs, engaging Q&As, and lively filmmaker après events, there’s no better place to celebrate film and kick off the holiday season than in the snow-capped mountains of Whistler.
Whistler Film Festival (WFF) has earned its reputation as an intimate celebration of filmmaking with a strong focus on British Columbia’s creative talent, and this year, over 60% of the lineup spotlights Canadian cinema.
The 2025 lineup includes the star power of Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Victor Garber, Andrea Martin, Janeane Garofalo and Mike Myers, to name a few.
Film Highlights
The festival kicks off with two great offerings: the star-studded documentary You Had to Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution and the mountain culture adventure documentary Forward, and closes with the British period drama The Choral starring Ralph Fiennes.
Homegrown storytelling shines through the Borsos Competition for Best Canadian Feature Film, featuring thought-provoking documentaries like Ni-Naadamaadiz: Red Power Rising, thrilling features such as Keeper, and family-friendly gems in the new Morning Fuzzies & Family Favourites program, including The Lost Tiger and Sunday Morning Animated Snacks.

Borsos Competition
The Whistler Film Festival’s (WFF) prestigious Borsos Competition for Best Canadian Feature is overseen by a jury of some of the country’s most accomplished film and screen talent. The 22nd annual competition – named after the legendary Canadian filmmaker Philip Borsos – awards $35,000 in cash and in-kind prizes for several categories including Best Canadian Feature and Best Director, making it the second-largest in the country.
