The longest ski season in North America came to a close yesterday and Whistler sent it off in style with Gaper Day, an annual celebration of snow, sun and the end of another winter.

The costumes were out and plenty of Gapers ripped those chunky “off-Piste” lines but having Gaper Day on Whistler Mountain this year meant the natural pools were in perfect shape for one of the greatest pond skim parties in recent memory.

With mid-summer temperatures keeping everyone hot and happy, 2015 will go down as one of the best ever. Local Gaper “Skier Dave” even honoured to the No-Downloading aesthetic and skied all the way to the GLC patio. In true Gaper fashion he chugged a victory beer and proclaimed, “We’re all winners on Gaper Day.”

Gaper Day 2017 will be held on Blackcomb Mountain, May 22 – the last day of an epic ski season in Whistler. Dressing up is mandatory as is having a jolly good time. Check out the rest of the GO Fest long weekend fun over at Whistler.com.
