Whistler Kid – Musician/Songbird Ali Milner

Whistler Kid – Musician/Songbird Ali Milner

Ali Milner is a star. She’s a born-and-bred Whistler musician with serious songwriting skills who has been performing live since she was 15 years old. Now 21, Milner is just off a stint on the CBC music-competition show “Cover Me Canada” (which everyone agrees she should have won) and has a new video out with Canadian hip hop star Son Real.

Already two albums into a promising career Ali has performed all over the world and was the musical highlight here at home for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Her voice is strong, her songwriting is compelling and she can ski and mountain bike better than probably anyone you know. Ali Milner is a true Whistler kid.

The Insider caught up with her right after she finished shooting her Whistler Sabbatical Project video to talk about what it’s like growing up in North America’s greatest mountain resort.

Feet Banks

Feet Banks

Feet Banks moved to Whistler at age 12 so his parents could live the dream and ski as much as possible. He ended up living it too. After leaving home Feet did a few good stints in warmer climates and 4 years of writing school before returning to the mountains to make ski movies, hammer out a journalism career and avoid the 9-5 lifestyle as long as possible. He’s been a hay farmer, a hole digger, a magazine editor and has a jump named after him on Blackcomb Mountain, Feet’s Air. It’s tiny.
