What is the best time of year to visit the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola?

For hiking and sightseeing, July to September offers the best weather and wildflowers. For skiing, December to March provides prime snow conditions and the unique chance to ski both mountains in one day.

Safety & Requirements

Is the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola family-friendly?

Absolutely! The gondola is safe, stroller-accessible, and great for all ages. Kids love the glass-bottom cabins, and families can explore easy alpine trails and interactive exhibits at the top.

Can I take my dog on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola?

Dogs are not permitted on Gondolas or any Whistler Blackcomb property, unless they are certified aid dogs or CARDA (Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dogs). There are however plenty of dog-friendly accommodations and activities in Whistler. See our pet-friendly Whistler guide for further information.

Is the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola Experience accessible?

The Blackcomb Gondola, Whistler Village Gondola and PEAK 2 PEAK can accommodate guests in wheelchairs.

Accessible washrooms are available in the Rendezvous Restaurant and Roundhouse Lodge. There is an elevator to take you to the upper floor to access the Roundhouse Restaurant, Umbrella Bar and Steep's Grill.

The distance from the Rendezvous Lodge to the PEAK 2 PEAK terminal is approximately 78m with an average grade of 5.7 percent. The Peak Express experience does not accommodate wheelchairs.

What should I wear for the PEAK 2 PEAK Experience?

As you are going from Whistler Village in the valley to the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola in the alpine, weather conditions and temperatures can change. As a rule of thumb it is usually 5 to 10 degrees (Celcius) cooler on the mountain than in the village.

Dress comfortably for the mountains - layers are recommended so you can adjust accordingly. If you plan to hike, other gear is recommended such as comfortable, sturdy shoes and water.

Please note that to access the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola in wintertime, you will need to walk through the snow - dress warmly and wear waterproof boots for comfort. There are restaurants, shops and washroom facilities on both mountains.

How do I get to the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola from Vancouver?

You can reach Whistler from Vancouver by car, shuttle, or private transfer. The scenic Sea to Sky Highway takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Parking is available in Whistler Village near the Whistler Village Gondola, which connects to the PEAK 2 PEAK.

The best place to park to access the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is in the Whistler Village Day Lots 1 – 5, located a 5-10 minute walk from the base of Whistler Mountain.
