Bobsleigh and Skeleton Experience at the Whistler Sliding Centre

The non-profit Whistler Sliding Centre is home to the fastest ice track in the world! Since hosting the competitions for bobsleigh, skeleton and luge of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the venue continues to grow sport as an active training and competition site. Also public participants can experience the thrill of sliding in passenger bobsleigh (winter and summer) and solo skeleton rides (winter). Visitors can also explore the state-of-the-art facility during a free self-guided interpretive tour

Winter Bobsleigh or Skeleton Experience - $189 per person

December 2019 – March 2020

Tick the Olympic sports of bobsleigh or skeleton off your bucket list at the Whistler Sliding Centre, the fastest sliding track in the world! After an orientation, participants take an adrenaline-fuelled ride in a 4-person bobsled, steered by a trained bobsleigh pilot, reaching speeds of up to 125+ km/hr and feeling the acceleration of up to 4 G-forces.

Prefer going solo? Choose skeleton and launch yourself headfirst down the ice track on your own sled! After an orientation, participants take off from the Maple Leaf starting point (about a third of the way up the track), pass through six corners, and clock speeds up to 100 km/hr. The Whistler Sliding Centre is the only place in Canada where the public can experience the rush of skeleton.

Bobsleigh is offered daily and Skeleton is available 2 – 3 days per week. Both sports run rain, snow or shine, so it’s the perfect addition to your time in Whistler, whatever the weather. Availability for Winter 2019/20 will be released in Fall 2019. Please check back soon.

Summer Bobsleigh – $99 per person / youth slide free

Daily from late June – early September, with select bonus weekends

Sliding isn’t only a winter sport. This summer, let a professional bobsleigh pilot steer you through a series of corners and curves in a bobsleigh on wheels. After a safety orientation and a tour of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games venue including an exclusive track walk, your ‘Rolling Thunder’ team will reach speeds of up to 90 km/hr in the final ‘Thunderbird Corner’. Summer bobsleigh runs daily, rain or shine (except for statutory holidays) for $99 per adult. Youth (12 – 18 years) slide free with a paying adult. Additional youth are half price. Availability for Summer 2020 will be released in Spring 2020. Please check back then.

Whistler Olympic Park hosted ski jumping, cross-country skiing and biathlon for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and remains an active centre for competitors, the local community and visitors. Located a short drive south of Whistler, the park offers activities and programs year-round.

Winter at Whistler Olympic Park

In the winter, from November to April, discover Whistler Olympic Park through cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biathlon, tobogganing and more. Find yourself in the park’s spectacular landscape, discover its Olympic legacy and learn about the athletes’ stories of glory and gold. Take a lesson, or introduce your child to Nordic ski disciplines such as cross-country, biathlon or even ski jumping in one of the youth programs. After a day out in the snow, gather around the outdoor bonfire or in the cozy Day Lodge restaurant.


Summer at Whistler Olympic Park

Park Hours & Admission

Whistler Olympic Park is open daily for tours, self-guided activities and sightseeing from late June 28 to early September from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Park closes and gates are locked at 4:30 PM.

There is a small park access fee. This fee helps maintain the venue for the benefit of local, national and international Nordic athletes for summer and winter training. Free park entry for 2019/20 season pass holders and non-motorized vehicles.


Tours

Olympic Biathlon Tour

Feel like an Olympian with this hands-on introduction to biathlon! On your walk to the shooting range, learn about the parks' sports and history, with photo opportunities of Olympic monuments and scenery.
Then take aim and shoot a real 22 caliber rifle! In a mini race including walking/running, get your heartrate up, stay focused and take aim to hit the targets!
When you book online prior to arrival, the park access fee ($15/vehicle) is waived/included in the tour cost.

Tour Times: 10:30AM, 1:00PM, 2:30PM
Ages: 8 and up (under 19 with accompanying adult)
Pricing: Adult $55, Youth $45

E-Bike & Biathlon Adventure Tour

This two-hour tour will take you to Olympic monuments and breathtaking viewpoints, such as the Top of the World lookout with vistas of Black Tusk and surrounding mountain ranges.
You will stop at the biathlon range to test your marksmanship, shooting at the Olympic targets.
The comfortable electric assist mountain bikes have wide wheels for traction, a suspension for a smooth ride, and an electric motor for that extra boost to climb hills with ease!
The E-Bike & Biathlon Adventure Tour runs 2 times daily for $95 per person.
When you book online prior to arrival, the park access fee ($15/vehicle) is waived/included in the tour cost.

Ages: 10 and up (under 19 with accompanying adult)
Requirements: minimum height of 5’2”. Closed toe shoes are required (no flip-flops/sandals)

E-Mountain Bike Rentals

Discover Whistler Olympic Park on an electric assist mountain bike (easy to intermediate/advanced route options) with two hour rentals available.

Hiking

Challenge yourself with the Ski Jump Scrambler and hike up the Olympic ski jumps, bottom to top! For a different pace, take a meandering hike to the Top of the World Lookout, or try one of the other diverse hiking routes.

Disc Golf and Games

Challenge your friends and family to a game of disc golf – least number of throws wins the game! Additional backyard games are also available at the park’s Day Lodge.

Sightseeing and Exhibit

Explore Whistler Olympic Park's history and legacy from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by reading the interpretive signage and exploring the new exhibit. Take a photo as you visit the Olympic cross-country stadium, the biathlon range, the majestic ski jumps and the Olympic Rings.

Ski with an Olympian

This winter take a private lesson with an Olympian and learn new skills from one of the best athletes in the world and take your sport to the next level.

More than just a lesson, this once in a lifetime experience will give you a chance to learn about the life of an Olympic Athlete, learn some secrets of Whistler locals and possibly even ski the famous Dave Murray Downhill course.

You’ll have the choice of having a one on one lesson, or bringing your friends and family to make a group of up to five people, all for the same price.
