Snowing in Whistler

Weather: What to Expect?

Snow, Snow and More Snow!

Whistler’s average annual snowfall is 33.5 feet which means Whistler will be a winter wonderland for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Whistler’s proximity to the coast brings moderate temperatures so it’s rare that the thermostat would dip below -10˚ C (12˚ F) in the valley and -15˚ C (5˚ F) in the alpine. More likely, during the Games, temperatures will be in the comfortable -5˚ C (23˚ F) to +8˚ C (46˚ F) range in the valley and -12˚ C (11˚ F) to +5˚ C (42˚ F) in the alpine.

What to bring: Whistler weather is ideal for layers so you can add or shed one as needed. Make sure to bring warm snow boots, sunglasses and a hat too. Or maybe you’ll want to get into the spirit and pick up some Olympic gear while you’re here.
