The Paralympics are elite sport events for athletes with disabilities, with an emphasis on a participant’s athletic achievement rather than the disability. They are held every two years, coinciding with the Olympic Games. The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will have all but two events in Whistler. A total of 62 medals will be handed out in Whistler in Alpine Skiing, Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing. Wheelchair Curling and Ice Sledge Hockey are held in Vancouver.
