FIBT Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup
February 2 - 4, 2012
Catch the action as the world's top bobsleigh and skeleton athletes compete at the Whistler Sliding Centre. Wear your country's colours and cheer on your favourite athletes to a winning finish! Competitions start at 3 PM on February 2 and 3, and at 4 PM on February 4. A selection of food vendors will be serving up delicious fare each evening (food purchases are cash only). Be sure to stay for the nightly awards ceremony and fireworks display. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Whistler Visitor Centre or at the base of the Excalibur Gondola in Whistler Village. WinterPRIDE Festival

January 23 to February 9, 2012
PAPER THIS is an experiment in recycled materials. Local artists from a variety of backgrounds including photography, sculpture and design exhibit their work on paper created by Arne Gutmann. The handmade paper includes a collection of materials such as recycled ski lift passes, birch bark, comic books and cigarette packs. Over 20 artists were then given the paper to use as their canvas. February 3 - 4, 2012
The Peak to Valley is a long standing and unique team race on Whistler Mountain. Mixed teams of four race from Whistler Mountain's high alpine to an exciting finish at Dusty's at Whistler Creekside. Two team members race on Friday and two on Saturday. The starting order is based on age, with the oldest competitors starting first. The Peak to Valley race has a vertical drop of 1,443 meters, 180 gates, and a course that is over 5 km long. Register in person prior to the event day at any Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations or Ski & Snowboard School Sales locations.

Join experienced and professional instructors for a day of skill development, fun and Telemark community development. The festival offers lessons for all levels and ages, steeps and backcountry sessions, a freeski ski-off, technical race practice and a social at Merlin's Bar. From beginners to experts, the Biathlon Series is an excellent opportunity to experience biathlon and test your cross-country skiing and shooting skills in a fun environment. Similar to a sprint competition, each participant will ski three loops of a course, with two shooting bouts in-between. These events are open to all members of the public, ages 8 and up. Join the Whistler Museum for this benefit evening as it celebrates 25 years of sharing Whistler's stories and spirit throughout the years. The evening will include entertainment by Whistler Anthem Project winner, Chad Oliver, between 6 - 7 PM, and a raffle featuring fabulous prizes. Takes place between 5 - 10 PM at Creekbread restaurant - a portion of the evening's pizza sales will be donated to the Whistler Museum.

Portland Taiko is a premier Pacific Northwest drum ensemble. "Taiko," meaning drum and an art form, is deeply rooted in ancient Japanese tradition and combines rhythm, movement, energy and culture into a single art form. Portland Taiko's aspiration is to create a taiko performance of the highest artistic quality with a strong and beautiful voice for all to enjoy. The show starts at 8 PM at Millennium Place and tickets can be purchased at Millennium Place.

The King of the Rail is a series of rail jam contests which run on select evenings at the base of Whistler Mountain next to the Fitzsimmons Chair at 7 PM. There are separate categories for snowboarders and skiers, males and females, and adults and youth. Category winners will receive a percentage of the cash entry fees, plus all participants have a chance to win fantastic draw prizes from Showcase, Burton, Atomic, Nintendo, TELUS, DNA and more. No racing experience is required to join in on the fun of recreational racing. Come out and have some fun with your friends in this series held every Thursday throughout the season. Open to skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders, participants' races are video-taped and played at the Kokanee awards party where everyone has a chance to win great prizes. Please note that helmets are mandatory, and the race location and discipline vary each race. Registration prior to event day is through Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations and Ski School Sales locations. Registration on competition day is from 8:30 - 9:45 AM; location dependent on race location.

The Yeti Snowshoe Series provides an exciting outdoor outlet for participants of all skill levels, from beginner through to advanced level athletes. The Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross events are recreational competitions open to all ages. Amateur skiers and boarders will compete in different age and discipline divisions on the Nintendo Terrain Park Snowcross course.Places are limited in each category.
